Grey Bodice Day One

Today I started a new bodice. It is basically just to see if I could actually make a correct one.
First I traced the "vest" pattern from Simplicity Pattern 3623. I took out the darts and the princess seems. Then I created a corset on Custom Corset Pattern Generator and once I draw out the pattern I will use it to create some sort of lining with boning. My bodice will have three layers. The outer fashion layer (grey), an inner lining with boning, and then an outer liner made of duck cloth that I still need to purchase. So far I have just cut out the grey fabric which is left over from my sisters cloak I made last year. This is going to be an adventure and I am using a ton of help from the ladies at Renaissance Festival.com and Baroness Doune's website.
***Will add pics later.

Jenny's Garb Day Three

Alright today Jenny and I finished the waistband of the green skirt adding two sets of hooks and eyes. I am very proud of the gather on both the green and blue skirts. We still have to add the hook and eyes on the blue skirt and booth skirts need to be hemmed.
As far as the shirt goes; everything is done except the cuffs and the neck elastic. The pattern calls for a ruffle but we are adding cuffs. We are using an old pattern's cuff and Jenny is going to add some embroidery to add just a little extra charm.
The next time we get together might be our last day and the garb will be finished!

Jenny's Garb Day Two

Today Jenny and I got a huge start of her skirts and finished her bloomers. Naturally we first cut out the beautiful fabric. We used an olive green cotton and dark blue cotton for her skirts, and a nice teal butterfly print cotton.
Skirts-
The skirts were very easy. We eliminated a zipper closure and are either putting in grommets or a hook and eye. The olive skirt just needs a closure and hem while the blue skirt needs its entire waistband and hem.
The bloomers were an adventure. I did like I normally do a bloomer pattern. I just use the leg pajama pants and cut a little extra for seem allowance. But I kind of forgot something today. I forgot to allow for the elastic in the pajamas, So I didn't cute the bloomers big enough so they can stretch and Jenny could actually get them on to her body comfortably. So to improvise Jenny and I added a 3 in strip of the blue fabric from the skirt to the sides of the bloomers. That worked like a snap and the bloomers turned out quite nicely. Except they are a little big in the crotch still. I might experiment tomorrow to make them fit a little better. But they are very comfortable.

Jenny's Garb Day One

First Garb of the Season!
Jenny and I are going to make a working class garb for her.
Shopping and Planning Day:
We decided on this pattern:
It is Buttericks pattern B6196. Now before you cringe at the princess seams. We are only making the blouse and the two skirts. The Blouse will be made out of a muslin so it will be nice and comfortable. We are going to finish the sleeves with a nice cuff instead of the elastic ruffle thing. For the skirts we are going to eliminate the zipper and probably finish the waste with a a hook and eye or maybe some grommets. That will be kind of an adenture when we get there. :)
For the bodice Jenny is going to buy the Twill Boned Bodice from the Tudor Shoppe. My sister bought this bodice last year and I absolutely love it. It is reversible and boned near the grommets. It is perfect for what Jenny and my sister need. Something comfortable but it still has some structure. The quality is amazing too. I haven't ever had any problems with the Tudor Shoppe.

But anywho. I put pics of the colors the next I write a blog.
